Roles of individuals Mariah Computer Specialist, Jim Editor, Rachelle recorder/secretary/timekeeper, Josie Visual Art
Process of assignment was challenging via email. Everyone was willing to participate yet lack of specific leadership and clarification of direction caused some confusion at least from my perspective. Each participant had wonderful ideas to present yet minimal confirmation was made contributing to a general atmosphere of confusion. Possibly this was only on my part as evidence by my contribution to the project being added with no visual art or background. My feelings on role identification is that of the previous identification of lack of direct leadership with verification of information. I am not sure I have the role everyone thinks I do that of the secretary/recorder/timekeeper? Confusion came when a team mate said for me to visual art which was to my knowledge give as a role to a team mate who joined us later in the process. I have learned from this role of secretary/ recorder/timekeeper that clear documentation can assist in finding the weaknesses and strengths of the process and execution. I have always struggled with online interactions as it dismisses the object of face to face interactions and the ability to read body language, adjust for noted tones both positive and negative in the group and compose clear communication. The ability to read this verbal and nonverbal communication allows for natural strengths to present such as leadership, clarifier etc. and the ability to identify those who are not understanding or appreciating how the flow is moving forward. Identification of a leader is important and in our case I understood one person to take this position as they proposed that they had this strength early on. Unfortunately, as I read over the minutes I realize that this person clarified to be a different position not as leader. Identifying that we did not have a leader in our group could explain the various confusion and some lack of clarity. I will be seeking out tools and information this week on how to overcome this challenge in communication to hopefully improve my ability to communicate for the future parts of our project. Despite proposed challenges I am thankful for my team. We all worked hard and contributed while overcoming any confusion with end result of completing this section of our project. Thanks team!
